Stampin’ Up! Gathering Moments Fun Fall Card

Welcome back to Day 2 of this week’s Card Class Kit To Go featuring the Gathering Moments Bundle from Stampin’ Up! This is my Gathering Moments Fun Fall Card. Today’s card highlights a simple but striking sandpaper technique that adds beautiful detail and texture to your die cut leaves. If you love rich fall color palettes and cards with a warm seasonal feel, this one is for you.

Gathering Moments Fun Fall Card Details

My color palette for this card includes Cajun Craze, Old Olive, Early Espresso, and a hint of Crushed Curry. I started with a Cajun Craze card base and layered a coordinating pattern from the Gathering Together Designer Series Paper onto a panel of Basic White cardstock. I then adhered a strip of Early Espresso cardstock across the panel and wrapped Old Olive Linen Thread around it twice before tying a bow. The entire panel is then adhered to the card base.

The focal point of the card is the large leaf, which I die cut from Cajun Craze Two Tone cardstock. After die cutting, I embossed the leaf with the Gathering Leaves 3D Embossing Folder. This is where the sandpaper technique comes in. Using a piece of fine-grit sandpaper, I lightly buffed the raised areas of the embossed leaf, allowing the white core of the cardstock to show through. This simple step adds dimension, softness, and almost a rustic hand-worn quality to the piece.

I added the leaf to the card using Stampin’ Dimensionals and stamped the sentiment in Early Espresso ink on a die cut Basic White label from the Textured Notes Dies. To finish the card, I added Cajun Craze and Gold Dots for a touch of sparkle. Of course I added a matching envelope to have a complete package!
